104.1 The Peak switches to all-Christmas music on Nov. 1 | Local News | centraloregondaily.com
A Central Oregon radio station isn't waiting for Black Friday to switch to Christmas music. It's already here, the day after Halloween.
The calendar has turned to November and that means a Central Oregon radio station has switched to an all-Christmas music format.
104.1 The Peak made the switch Friday morning and the reaction was almost instantaneous.
“Oh they reacted," said Horizon Broadcasting Group Operations Manager Dave Clemens with a chuckle. "I got messages like within an hour and we started at midnight, so at one o’clock in the morning there was some 'bah humbugs' out there that were already talking about it. But I got some thank yous in that as well."
The station used to switch to all Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving. Due to advertising demand, they moved up the date.
It says the number of listeners actually goes up as soon as they make the switch.
