New ChatGPT connectors in development for G-Drive and Slack
OpenAI is working on new connectors for ChatGPT, expanding beyond the previously available connectors to Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive. The new feature appears to be specifically built for enterprise organizations. In the Settings, there will be a new section named Knowledge, with two options. The first is to sync to Google Drive, which is very likely specific to Google Workspace. The second option is for a Slack connector.
This change arrived along with traces of a new model called gpt-4o-gdrive, which is likely a model equipped with tooling to use Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to query data from Google documents within the company’s workspace. Generally, this feature is similar to what Gemini offers enterprise customers, where it has deep integration with slides, docs, and sheets, allowing users to query internal documents seamlessly.

My observation is that it will require substantial effort for large organizations to make these features beneficial, as it demands significant training for employees and experimentation on their part.
The second feature related to the Slack connector may allow ChatGPT to access data from public Slack channels, enabling users to ask ChatGPT for summaries of specific conversations. This feature should be very beneficial, as it can pull relevant information from Slack, which is often challenging to keep up with.
